Johnathon Schaech is carving out quite an unlikely niche for himself in the world of horror. The man who was previously just “Christina Applegate’s husband” and then “Christina Applegate’s ex-husband” co-wrote (with partner Richard Chizmar) last year’s MASTERS OF HORROR episode THE WASHINGTONIANS (which was terrible, but in a funny, crazy way), is behind Tobe Hooper’s FROM A BUICK 8 adaptation, and has another thriller called THE POKER CLUB (which I told you about here) awaiting release. Oh, and he also apparently wrote ROADHOUSE 2, but the less said about that…
Anyway, he’s another of the MASTERS OF HORROR gang returning for its pseudo-season 3, otherwise known as FEAR ITSELF. Schaech and his co-writer have EATER ready to go for the series. Based on a short story by Peter Crowther, EATER has a Hannibal Lecter-like serial killer at its forefront, although Schaech told Shock Till You Drop to expect elements of THE THING as well. No director is attached yet, but don’t be surprised if it’s another familiar name from Masters’ past.
