Sci-fi action films Source Code and Now get new release dates

A couple of quickie release date updates on this lazy Friday afternoon. You’re probably already dreaming of the alcoholic haze that awaits you later tonight, so I won’t waste too much of your time…

First up, SOURCE CODE, which, when we last spoke of it, had just debuted its enticing new trailer. The Duncan Jones-directed mindf*ck was originally scheduled to hit on APRIL 15th, opposite SCREAM 4, but perhaps Summit wasn’t thrilled to be giving away a chunk of its audience to the Wes Craven thriller, because now SOURCE CODE opens on APRIL 1, 2011. The flick, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, will go up against the sure-to-be-horrid Russell Brand comedy HOP and James Gunn’s demented indie SUPER. Something for everyone that weekend.

Meanwhile, NOW, the futuristic adventure from director Andrew Niccol, has been given a SEPTEMBER 30, 2011 date. It currently sits across the aisle from the haunted house flick DREAM HOUSE, which features names like Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts. NOW (check out some set pics HERE) has a pretty strong cast of its own, including Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde and Cillian Murphy. Lot of big names in the multiplex that weekend, should be a nice showdown.

And that’s it! Now go out and get drunk, friends!
