Scott Eastwood would love to pop his claws as the next Wolverine

Sadly, we now live in a world where Hugh Jackman has decided to retire his role as the adamantium-clawed Canadian for 20th Century Fox's Wolverine film series. Of course, along with the Australian actor, singer, multi-instrumentalist, dancer and producer stepping away from the role, a question remains: Who will replace him as one of Marvel's most famous of the X-Men characters?

Earlier today, while attending the panel for PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING, in which Eastwood plays Nate Lambert in the film, Comicbook.com caught up with the actor backstage at Madison Square Garden. While making the press line rounds, Eastwood was asked the following question: If he could suit up as any superhero on the big screen, which character would he choose to portray? Eastwood then enthusiastically replied, "Weapon X! "I mean, Logan!" Eastwood said. "You gotta give it to Wolverine! Wolverine, all day."

Logan, huh? I could see it. If Eastwood grew out the chops, packed on a bit more muscle and suddenly developed a taste for rancid cigars,  I imagine he could make for an interesting Wolverine. Personally, I'd like to see Daphne Keene in an X-23 spinoff film before Wolverine returns to scream himself hoarse in another X-Men film. With that being said, if Fox is feeling pressure to begin the hunt for a new Logan, Eastwood might be someone worth considering.

But enough about what I think. What are your thoughts on Eastwood offering himself for the role? Do you perhaps have someone else in mind? Let us know your thoughts and casting suggestions in the comments section below!

Meanwhile, the X-Men will return when X-MEN: THE DARK PHOENIX arrives in theaters on November 2, 2018.
