Scream 6: Henry Czerny re-teams with Ready or Not directors for Ghostface sequel

The next Scream sequel (the sixth entry in the series, which is why we’re referring to it as Scream 6 until we’re told otherwise), is currently filming in Montreal with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the directors of the Scream that was released earlier this year, back at the helm. Before getting into the Ghostface business, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett directed the well-received horror film Ready or Not, and Deadline reports that they have now brought Ready or Not cast member Henry Czerny into the Scream world with them. Czerny is taking on an unspecified role in Scream 6.

Scream 6 was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, the same duo that scripted the previous film. This one will show us what happens when

the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.

Those four survivors are the Scream 2022 characters played by returning stars Melissa Barrera (as Samantha Carpenter), Jasmin Savoy Brown (as Mindy Meeks-Martin), Mason Gooding (as Mindy’s brother Chad Meeks-Martin), and Jenna Ortega (as Sam’s sister Tara Carpenter). Franchise regular Courteney Cox is reprising the role of Gale Weathers, and Hayden Panettiere is back as her Scream 4 character Kirby Reed. Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, and Josh Segarra have also been cast in unspecified roles.

Vanderbilt is producing Scream 6 with Paul Neinstein and William Sherak for Project X Entertainment. Original Scream screenwriter Kevin Willamson serves as executive producer alongside Chad Villella, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, Marianne Maddalena, and Spyglass’s Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre.

Czerny has over 100 credits to his name. In addition to Ready or Not, those credits include Clear and Present Danger, The Ice Storm, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Pink Panther (2006), Fido, The Tudors, The A-Team (2010), Falling Skies, Revenge, Quantico, Sharp Objects, Supergirl, Schitt’s Creek, and Tom Cruise’s first Mission: Impossible movie. He will be reprising his role from that one in the next two Mission: Impossible movies.
