Writing duo hired for Scream TV series

You guys remember the "Scream" series that's on its way to MTV? According to Variety, Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin will pen MTV’s small screen adaptation of Wes Craven's SCREAM. Their previous works includes "Revenge", "The Event", "Mercy", and "Criminal Minds". A while back it was reported that there was interest in having the man behind it all, Wes Craven, direct the pilot. At the time the director wasn't ready to commit, stating that, "A lot of you have asked about the Scream TV series. It’s true I’ve been approached. My response was, it would depend on the script. If they have a great script/concept, it could be fun. If not, not.”

So if Craven is still holding true to that statement then it looks like Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin have a lot of work ahead of them if they want Craven behind the camera. If the pilot proves to be successful — which I'm sure it will be — and MTV gives the show a full season order, the hope is to have it air in the summer of 2014. That's all for now guys, we'll keep you updated as this one rolls along!
