Update: US version of the trailer added for comparison.
Yahoo UK recently posted the first trailer for Ricky Gervais’ upcoming THE INVENTION OF LYING (formerly known as THIS SIDE OF THE TRUTH) and whoa mama, this one’s gonna be good. Aside from Gervais himself, the film stars a who’s who of established and upcoming talent. Just in the trailer alone we see Jennifer Garner, Stephen Merchant, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, Louis CK, Rob Lowe and Stephanie March and yet to be seen are Jason Bateman, Patrick Stewart, Christopher Guest, and Jeffrey Tambor. The story is just as the title implies – in an alternate reality where everyone tells the truth, a man discovers how to lie and uses it to become rich and famous. An immense amount of hilarity ensues. Click through to check out the trailer. See Gervais exploit the poor truth-telling populace on September 25th.
