Any McConaughey is good McConaughey and if you thought his treasure hunting days were over, we have a new picture courtesy of Entertainment Weekly that proves otherwise. Behold the first image from Stephen Gaghan‘s GOLD featuring McConaughey and Edgar Ramirez!
The film will follow struggling businessman Kenny Wells (McConaughey) who teams up with a hapless geologist (Edgar Ramirez) to find fortune by searching for gold in the Indonesian jungle. Given Gaghan’s track record (SYRIANA), this will probably be more TRAFFIC than SAHARA. While the flick will also star Corey Stoll and Bryce Dallas Howard, I’m glad to see Ramirez acting opposite McConaughey. The man has some serious talent that I’m sure will be better utilized here than, say, POINT BREAK.
GOLD will hit theaters sometime in 2016.
