Set photo for Venom drops as production begins

For years fans of all things Venom have had to accept Topher Grace’s version of Eddie Brock in SPIDER-MAN 3 as the only cinematic version of the character out there. Those were dark times, and many people struggled to survive such peril. But soon we will have the aggressive R-rated version fans have been wanting to for years, and the process of getting it to us in officially underway.

A photo dropped on Twitter last night of star Tom Hardy and the filmmakers on the set of the movie with the caption “Day 1,” signifying to all those who have detective certifications, that the movie has officially begun shooting. Take a look for yourselves below!

The movie is set for October 5, 2018, which led many to assume they would get cracking sooner rather than later. The movie has added some great names to the cast as well, including Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, and Jenny Slate. The movie is being directed by ZOMBIELAND director Ruben Fleischer with a script from Scott Rosenberg (PAIN & GAIN, JUMANJI), Jeff Pinkner (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2) and Kelly Marcel (FIFTY SHADES OF GREY).

The image isn’t much, but for anyone dying for a proper Venom movie, it’s basically like a stocking stuffer come two months early. The movie is underway, and everyone looks happy and ready to get things moving. VENOM may not be able to have Spider-Man swinging in, but hopefully, the writers have come up with a solid story to warrant his own solo venture. Seriously, though, anything is better than That 70's Venom.

VENOM hits theaters October 5, 2018.
