Amazon has emerged victorious as the winner of a bidding war for the rights to Fear Agent, a sci-fi comic book series written by Rick Remender, with art by contributing artists Tony Moore, Jerome Opena, Francesco Francavilla, Eric Nguyen, and Kieron Dwyer. First published by Image Comics before moving over to the Dark Horse Comics banner, Fear Agent invites readers to experience the whiskey-soaked, laser-scorched life of Heath Huston, the galaxy’s last Fear Agent. When down-and-out alien exterminator Heath Huston stumbles upon an extraterrestrial plot to commit genocide against the human species, he must put down the bottle and resume his role as a peacekeeper…the last Fear Agent!
Teaming up to bring Fear Agent to Amazon as an action-packed series are Seth Rogen, Matt Tolmach and David F. Sandberg. Sandberg, who helmed LIGHTS OUT, ANNABELLE: CREATION, and DC's SHAZAM!, is on board to direct and executive produce. On the scripting end of the spectrum, the project has Mattson Tomlin, whose recent work includes co-writing Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN, penning the pilot. Meanwhile, Rogen will executive produce alongside his Point Grey Productions partners Evan Goldberg and James Weaver. Matt Tolmach and David Manpearl will also executive produce.

Interstellar invaders. Time travel. Clones of clones of clones, and lots of whiskey. Whether he’s battling the scourge of space, going back in time to stop the alien invasion that changed Earth forever, or winning his ex-wife back, there’s nothing that Heath Huston won’t do to try to right the wrongs and gets his family back. He is, after all, the last Fear Agent.
While I've yet to read Fear Agent, the idea that Point Grey Productions is overseeing the project has me very excited. They're the company that helped usher shows like PREACHER and THE BOYS to the small screen, both of which have been entertaining adaptations of their source material. With regard to Fear Agent, the series came to a close in 2012, meaning that you can read the whole story for yourself simply by purchasing the trade collections from your local comic book shop or online retailer.
The indie comic-to-screen boom feels as if it's finally in full-swing, my friends. Which means that we can expect for more exciting comics-adjacent projects to be announced throughout the year. I say bring it on, as it's nice to take a step back from "cape and cowl" adventures every now and then.
