Summit Entertainment has released the first photo from DIVERGENT, the highly anticipated adaptation of Veronica Roth’s successful book series of the same name. The flick just commenced principal photography in Chicago, but it’s never too early to get the fans stoked for “the next big thing.”
Here we see Shailene Woodley as the story’s heroine, Beatrice “Tris” Prior, getting knives chucked at her head. Not sure what the deal is, but since this is yet another dystopian future I’m guessing she’s undergoing a test of some sort.
DIVERGENT is set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities, Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.
The Neil Burger-directed film also stars Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney, Zoe Kravitz, Maggie Q, Ansel Elgort, Ray Stevenson, Mekhi Phifer, Ashley Judd, Theo James, Tony Goldwyn, Amy Newbold, Ben Lamb, Miles Teller, Ben Lloyd-Wright and Justine Wachsberger. It’s scheduled to open March 21, 2014.
