Look out BHOOT, VASTU SHASTRA is coming. What the hell am I talking about? Well, Bhoot is considered the scariest horror film ever made – in India. I know, I know. How can the purveyors of endless big budget musicals have the balls to Bollywood-ize horror! Still, at least they’re trying. And this weekend’s release of Vastu Shastra promises to mix things up. Why? Because the early word is that Vastu is even scarier than Bhoot. Now is that really possible? I don’t know. It’s like trying to figure out what the hell is happening in a cricket match. What I do know are these three things:
1 – Clearly the world is embracing horror to a previously unexplored extent. Now that’s my kind of Coalition of the Willing.
2 – While the plot details are typical – haunted house, young family – the term refers to an art/science of constructing buildings in such a way as to promote harmony, balance, etc. You can imagine in the hands of a genre mind how that could all go deliciously wrong.
3 – The star is Sushmita Sen, former Miss Universe, and all around naughty vixen as you can see from her picture.
So lets all take a moment, wish our Indian friends luck in their horror endeavors, and dream about Ms. Sen coming over quickly to make her mark in Hollywood genre work.
