Sharknado 6 to be a franchise ending time travel adventure

When I first heard the concept of SHARKNADO, a concept perfectly described by the title, it sounded like a fun idea for a goofball one-off movie. I never imagined it would become a multi-installment franchise, and certainly never thought that franchise would become the pop culture phenomenon that it has been for the last several years.

And I definitely never thought these movies would take the action into space, present apocalyptic events, or wrap up with a time travel adventure. But that is exactly how it has played out.

Syfy has ordered a sixth installment of the SHARKNADO franchise, but it's an order that comes with the caveat that SHARKNADO 6 is going to be the final chapter in the series.

Stars Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, Vivica A. Fox, and Cassie Scerbo are all coming back for this final sequel, which picks up after the destruction of the world in SHARKNADO 5: GLOBAL SWARMING to tell the following story:

All is lost, or is it? Fin unlocks the time-traveling power of the Sharknados in order to save the world and resurrect his family. In his quest, Fin fights Nazis, dinosaurs, knights, and even takes a ride on Noah’s Ark. This time, it’s not how to stop the sharknados, it’s when.

Anthony C. Ferrante, who directed all five of the previous SHARKNADO films, is returning to the helm one more time to finish what he started.

After reaching peak popularity with SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE, which drew in 3.9 million viewers, the series dropped down to 1.89 million viewers tuning in for SHARKNADO 5, so it's understandable that Syfy has decided it's time to cap things off.
