Edgar Wright has gained a legion of fans with SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ and most recently SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD. It turns out that Frank Darabont is among his followers, as the “WALKING DEAD” creator asked Wright if he wanted to direct an episode of the show’s upcoming second season.
“Frank asked me to do a WALKING DEAD, actually. But I feel that there’s some subject matter that, like, even though it’d be great – and I love that show: I actually watched four of the six episodes uninterrupted in one run; it was like zombie Pringles – I think that with something like that, with some TV shows, you wanna be in on the ground floor.”
So, did he say no? “I really enjoyed the first season, and I wouldn’t wanna be the guy that comes in and fucks it up.” Pretty disappointing that he passed it up, but it’s not too late for him to change his mind. Would you like to see Wright in the director’s chair for an episode?
The second season of “THE WALKING DEAD” will air on AMC later this year, presumably in October. If you didn’t see the first season, you’re missing out! I highly recommend picking up Season 1 on DVD HERE or Blu-ray HERE.
