Shazam! Fury of the Gods director offers a post-production update on the film

Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg is trapped inside a room with no windows and is hard at work on putting some finishing touches on the superhero sequel. Oh, don’t worry, I’m sure he’s okay. I don’t think the door is locked or anything like that. David, if you’re reading this, send an email if you need help, okay?

Sandberg took to social media on Friday to offer fans an update on how the film is coming along. This part of the process involves David adding temporary VFX to the footage in the hope of sharing something from the film soon. Perhaps he’s prepping a first-look for DC FanDome? That would be my guess.

“Making temp VFX in my post-production office. Still using my old copy of Action Essentials 2 from VideoCopilot (especially for smoke during Shazam transformations). Post-production office has no windows (I got really spoiled with my pre-production office seen on the second image). But I still prefer this one since it’s in LA and I get to sleep in my own bed every night,” Sandberg wrote.

Much of the original cast have returned for Shazam: Fury of the Gods, but a few of the new additions include Helen Mirren (F9: The Fast Saga), Lucy Liu (Elementary), and Rachel Zegler (West Side Story). Shazam: Fury of the Gods is currently slated for a June 2, 2023 release. The sequel will follow the events of the first film, which was met with critical acclaim and made $366 million globally.

Be sure to tune in to this year’s DC FanDome presentation on Saturday, October 16, beginning at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT, when more details about the film are bound to be shared.
