Sheen in New Moon

When you’ve established a career starring in movies about werewolves battling against vampires, it’s only natural to keep doing the same with all future career moves, right? In comes Michael Sheen, star of UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS and the rest of the UNDERWORLD series, as he has now joined the cast of another feuding werewolf / vampire franchise, THE TWILIGHT SAGA’S NEW MOON (or simply NEW MOON).

Personally, I think it’s a flippin’ odd move on Sheen’s part, but I suppose I can dig it. NEW MOON is bound to be as successful as TWILIGHT so why not, right? Maybe Sheen doesn’t care about getting typecast at this point–the economy is in the toilet, he probably thinks getting any job is a good job, right?

The big difference is that Sheen won’t be playing a werewolf this time around, but a vampire. Specically, Sheen will play Aro, the leader of an Italian vampire clan called the Volturi. From leader of the werewoves to leader of the vampires, just like that. Sheen is one smooth motherf*cker.

According to director Chris Weitz, Michael’s role is so important because he’s the head of all vampires,’ he said. ‘Aro is, on the surface, a very gracious and friendly vampire, but beneath that he is a tremendous threat.
