Shelob revealed in Middle-Earth: Shadow of War trailer!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Like any prequel story, the game MIDDLE-EARTH: SHADOW OF WAR (like it’s predecessor SHADOW OF MORDOR) is on shaky ground when it comes to the story of LORD OF THE RINGS. On the one hand, it can’t really contradict anything we know about the story, nor affect any real change to the outcome, while still telling its own complete story. Not only that, but there’s also always a temptation to see a “young” version of old characters, or characters before the main conflict. And that’s often a recipe for disaster.

Hopefully they avoid any pitfalls with Shelob, as she’ll now be a part of the new story. Again, it’s kinda cool that she’s in there, but it’s also, like…you can’t kill her or anything. So that kind of means that it’s a fun, but meaningless easter egg.
Though, I’d love to be proven wrong. Either way, here’s a trailer introducing Shelob to the game’s universe:

Meanwhile, MIDDLE-EARTH: SHADOW OF WAR will charge onto the PS4 October 10th.
