Writers/producers Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat have worked together on four seasons of the BBC series Sherlock, which helped boost Benedict Cumberbatch to the level of blockbuster stardom, and while it's not yet known whether or not there will ever be a fifth chapter in that story (their Sherlock Cumberbatch and his Watson Martin Freeman are both very busy these days), their collaboration will continue.
Setting aside Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's creation for now, Gatiss and Moffat are crafting a mini-series based on another 19th century literary character – Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Negotiations are currently underway with the BBC for the UK broadcast rights to Gatiss and Moffat's Dracula, which will have the same format as Sherlock in that the mini-series will be made up of feature length episodes.
The collaborators have yet to start writing the scripts for their Dracula show. Their Sherlock series was set in modern day, but it's not clear if they'll be bringing Dracula in the 21st century as well.
Stoker’s 1897 novel has the titular count attempt to move from Transylvania to England in his search for new blood.
