I haven’t heard a whole helluva lot from THE SHORTCUT in quite a while. Yeah, yeah, everybody knows that the ever-evolving Adam Sandler is producing this horror flick, however he’s not in it, he didn’t write it, and he ain’t the director, so I’d hardly call this a “Sandler effort”. Regardless, a bunch of new pics have been released to the ’net. I selected two and posted them for you above and below.
There does appear to be something very f*cked up going on in the image up top. I’m not sure what the whole “chains wrapped around the necks” deal is, but it is interesting. And here’s how the plot cuts: A shortcut through the woods saved a lot of time getting to school, but no kids growing up in a suburban neighborhood dared to take it. The trail ran within sight of a scary house with an eerie old man who would accost its travelers with an ominous message to stay away.
Town legend said he was involved in the disappearances of some kids long ago. Now that some of those same kids are in their late teens, they decide to find out the truth about the old man after they learn he’s still at his game.
The script was written by Scott Sandler and Dan Hannon with Nicholaus Goossen directing. The cast includes Shannon Marie Woodward, Katrina Bowden, Andrew Seeley, Dave Franco, and Nicholas Elia. I still don’t see an exact release date.
