Showrunners of Daredevil’s Season 2 set to run The Defenders onto Netflix

THE DEFENDERS is getting closer and closer to becoming a reality in Marvel's Netflix Universe, and today the series landed its showrunners to steer the ship.

Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who operated as showrunners for Season Two of DAREDEVIL, have been given the reins for the culmination of all Marvel's series on the content streamer. THE DEFENDERS will bring together Daredevil, Jessica, Luke Cage and Iron Fist (and you have to imagine The Punisher is going to get involved) to fight a threat larger than we've seen on any of those characters' respective shows to this point.

In addition, Drew Goddard will serve as an executive producer on the series, along with Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television, who said the following about Petrie and Ramirez…

We're incredibly excited to be able to bring our four street level heroes together in an epic tale woven by Doug and Marco whose work on ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ speaks for itself. They write and produce not only great action and adventure, but also the heart and touch of humor that's makes us Marvel. With the inclusion of Drew Goddard, we've got a team that's as formidable as the Defenders themselves.

With rumors circulating that THE DEFENDERS may start shooting before the year is out, it won't be long after IRON FIST drops for our binge-watching that we should have another Marvel Netflix show to plow through. I'd expect a late-2017 premiere with the way things are moving.
