Andrew Adamson, the director of such kiddie fare as SHREK and THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, is heading into some dark territory with BLACKPINE, a horror pitch his company, Strange Weather Films, just bought from scribe Cory Goodman (PRIEST).
According to Deadline.com, BLACKPINE refers to the hometown of a soldier returning from Afghanistan, where he plans to raise his 12-year-old daughter. The mining community has fallen on hard times, but he makes a go of it until his daughter goes missing. He launches into a frantic search to find her, and in the process uncovers a conspiracy within the town, with a supernatural twist.
Adamson will produce the film with Aaron Warner and Jeff Fierson; the latter two came up with the initial concept. The plan is to shoot it in New Zealand at an undetermined time. Adamson won’t direct; no one has gotten that job just yet.
