Personally, I thought UNBREAKABLE was better, and I even dug THE VILLAGE, which most people seem to hate. Then there’s LADY IN THE WATER, which wasn’t nearly as horrible as everyone made it out to be, and all I can really say about the guy is that he makes good, entertaining movies, and not necessarily the masterpieces everyone seems to expect.
So where the hell am I going with this? Well, according to Variety, Shyamalan’s next movie is called THE HAPPENING, which he’ll be doing for 20th Century Fox. The flick is a paranoid thriller about a family on the run from a natural crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity. I’m gonna throw out right now that the twist will be the whole thing’s a dream… if I’m right, just remember: you heard it here first!
What may be more on the ‘coolness’ level for this project is that this will be Shyamalan’s first R rated movie, as all the other’s were that notorious PG-13. Good for you Shyamalan! No word on whether any of Shyamalan’s favorites (i.e., Bruce Willis, Joaquin Phoenix, Bryce Dallas Howard) will star, but we can only hope Willis is brought in, cause let’s face it… the guy’s a pimp.
