The website for THE SIGNAL is up and running, and it’s got lots of stuff to go through if you don’t end up suffering from a seizure and find yourself twitching spastically on the floor.
I was lucky enough to have seen the film at a screening this summer, and while it was entertaining and frequently unnerving (not to mention surprisingly funny in spots), it’s not quite the “holy crap!” masterwork some have made it out to be. However, it made splashes at the Sundance and SXSW fests it played at and has its vocal supporters. Magnolia Pictures has been holding on to it for a while though, it was originally supposed to come out this month, and played the “undetermined date” game for a while, but February 22, 2008 now looks official.
And in case you’ve been thinking “what the flippin f*ck are you talkin’ about?” this whole time, THE SIGNAL is about a mysterious transmission that invades a city on New Year’s Eve, turning its residents into bloodthirsty, yet cognizant, maniacs.
