Silverhawks, animated, reboot, Nacelle Company

Whoa! You'll have to excuse me for a moment while I recover from a nostalgia overload after hearing some wild news. Are you ready for this? The Nacelle Company is plotting a Silverhawks revival!

Now, I know what you're thinking. Who? First of all, thanks for making me feel old. Second, Silverhawks was a classic animated television show developed by Rankin/Bass Productions and released in 1986. It ran for 65 episodes and featured 29th Century heroes with metal bodies and wings that p-patrolled the Galaxy of Limbo. Tasked with keeping the peace, the Silverhawks would often run afoul of the show's primary villain, Mon*Star. Essentially, he was a space mob boss who ran with some pretty shady characters, including a shapeshifter, a robotic card shark, and a man with blades for arms. So '80s, and so awesome. I had lots of Silverhawks action figures while growing up.

Members of the main Silverhawks team include a grizzled cop named Commander Stargazer, a speedster named Quicksilver, the team's chief pilot Bluegrass, twin siblings Steelheart and Steelwill, and the youngest member of the team, a mathematical genius named The Copper Kidd.

Word has it that Rankin/Bass are looking to build the reboot as a space-themed extension to their ThunderCats series. Plans to revive the Silverhawks come not long after Super 7, a pop-culture design house and toymaker announced their "SilverHawks Ultimates" line of toys.

“SilverHawks is a beloved franchise that has been overlooked for far too long,” said Brian Flynn, Founder, and Owner of Super7. “We are super excited to be working with Nacelle to bring SilverHawks back into the limelight for the die-hard fans as well as a new generation of fans to experience the magic of SilverHawks for the first time.”

Brian Volk-Weiss, Founder and CEO of The Nacelle Company, then gave this passionate and adorable response, “When I spoke with Brian Flynn the first time, I was like the character Yes-Man! “Yessss, just tell me where to sign!”
