Apparently there are no plans for a SIMPSONS sequel. Apparently. The film is the sixth biggest grossing of the year, it’s hard to see that the money men won’t want to crack at least two more of these babies out. Still, executive producer Al Jean says that: “We would only do a sequel if we believed it was a movie that had to be made, just like we did with the first one… We wouldn’t want to do it just because the first one was successful, or because we wanted to make money off of a movie. We’d only do it if we had a script that we thought was great [and] there’s no script at this point.”
If this is true then it’s great. Whether it is or not? I don’t know. I’m in support of sequels, but I hate it when studios take something good and churn out something bad just to make a little scratch (a la MORTAL KOMBAT ANNIHILATION). Still, I loved SIMPSONS and I’d totally welcome another. What about you guys?
