Well, let’s hope she can act…
It’s being reported by Variety that singer Rihanna has nabbed the female lead in Peter Berg’s alien invasion epic BATTLESHIP, which will soon begin filming in Louisiana. her role is unspecified, although it can be assumed that she’ll play a military officer of some sort aboard the titular vessel.
The singer joins Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard in the film version of the popular board game, which I’m pretty sure never had aliens in that. (Aliens would have made it much less monotonous.) I’m just wondering if the screenplay, by Jon and Erich Hoeber (WHITEOUT) contains a lame “you sunk my battleship” line.
Universal will roll BATTLESHIP out on May 18th, 2012. Hopefully you’re free that weekend; if not, you’ve got some time to clear your schedule.
