UPDATE: This has been confirmed via a press release sent to us. Slade is officially the director of ECLIPSE.
It seems like we’ve been yapping about the director for ECLIPSE (a.k.a. TWILIGHT III) for a while now, as Summit Entertainment wants to be able to shoot that sucker almost immediately after NEW MOON finishes up production this summer. You can’t blame them, they want to suck on this TWILIGHT teat while there’s still some sweet milk in it. But it’s surprising they still haven’t found someone to take the reins for the third one, especially considering all of their alleged options.
A couple of months ago, it seemed like J.A. Bayona (THE ORPHANAGE) had gobbled up the gig, but then it turns out everyone spoke too soon, and the gig hadn’t been offered to anyone at that point. Well, we can throw another name into the revolving door – a cool one at that: David Slade.
Slade is already well-versed in vampires, having directed the atmospheric 30 DAYS OF NIGHT. He also directed the ball-kicking HARD CANDY. Too very adult flicks, so it’s interesting that Summit is looking at him as a potential helmer. (At least, if you believe Deadline Hollywood Daily.)
