30 DAYS OF NIGHT was one of my absolute favourite films last year, so I’m definitely well and truly on the David Slade wagon. I’m not sure how I feel about this story that he’s taken over from Tarsem Singh (THE CELL) on UNTHINKABLE, though. The film revolves around a bunch of investigators who push the limits of interrogation as they seek a suspect’s knowledge of an impending nuclear attack on the United States. Slade is no stranger to hard interrogation, having had me extremely uncomfortable during HARD CANDY, but I’d love to see him do a movie that deals with a problem Jack Bauer couldn’t clean up in less than 24 hours. Although that is a pretty tall order; Jack Bauer could clean up anything in less than 24 hours. I’m pretty sure if the President banged his infected secretary and you put his daughter in the middle of a jungle somewhere, he’d cure AIDS in the day it took to find her. UNTHINKABLE is scripted by Peter Woodward (CLOSING THE RING) and OREN MOVERMAN (I’M NOT THERE).
