Out of more than 5,000 films entered for a chance at playing at the festival, 10 feature films and 8 documentaries made the final selection, including a few gems the horror loving community should probably keep an eye on. Remember, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY premiered its way into Slamdance in 2008, and look how successful that film eventually became.
The horror films at Slamdance this year will include…
“The Last Lovecraft: The Relic of Cthulhu” (Henry Saine) An ordinary guy is stuck in his boring life until a strange old man gives him an ancient relic and tells him that he’s the last bloodline of H.P. Lovecraft; with Devin McGinn and Kyle Davis.
“YellowBrickRoad” (Jesse Holland & Andy Mitton) An expedition looks for answers to something horrible in the forest, but the forest finds something horrible in them; stars Cassidy Freeman, Lee Wilkof and Anessa Ramsey.
Both sound promising, though YELLOWBRICKROAD sounds like the most fun (at least, in my book), as a good ol’ haunted forest story can deliver the thrills, chills, and scares if done right. That, and I’m not really a big fan of H.P. Lovecraft (I know, shoot me now!), so a movie about his ancestors does absolutely nothing for me.
