Sleep Thief horrors

Now here’s an interesting horror flick concept that I just came across. It sort of seems like a reversal of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET . See, all the horrors of Freddy’s movie happened because the victims fell asleep. In this new effort, called SLEEP THIEF, the victim is tormented because he stays awake. The film is coming to us from British director, Johnny Kevorkian (wonder if he has an uncle who was a doctor). Johnny (right) also made the well-received ghostly indie THE DISAPPEARED. Here is SLEEP THIEF’s plot:

A man begins to deteriorate physically and mentally thanks to his lack of slumber. His life is literally being sucked away in a haunting horror film with a very Gothic style.

Hmm, I wonder how similar it is to THE MACHINIST. Either way, Kevorkian promises that THIEF has obtained a much higher budget than his last film in order to feature well-known actors for a more international appeal. He also believes the flick’s style is along the lines of Mr. David Cronenberg. So far, I’m definitely willing to stay awake to learn more.
