Just before season five of Slow Horses premiered a year ago, Apple TV showed a big gesture in commitment to the series by renewing Slow Horses for a seventh season. The sixth season is just about to premiere on the streaming platform tomorrow, but before those episodes drop, Deadline is now reporting that Apple TV has once again renewed the show for an eighth season.
Season seven will be based on Mick Herron’s Bad Actors, while season eight is now said to be based on the ninth book of Mick Herron’s Slough House series, titled Clown Town. Per Deadline, season eight will have “Jackson Lamb (Oldman) and Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) face off in their most explosive confrontation yet. When a botched attempt to blackmail the Park puts Taverner on the offensive, it is up to Lamb to unravel one of MI5’s darkest secrets and put an end to it once and for all.”
Jay Hunt, the Creative Director, International of Apple TV, stated, “Slow Horses continues to charm audiences all around the world and I’m delighted that Jackson Lamb and his gang of lovable misfits will be back for an eighth season. Their acerbic take on the high-octane world of espionage is completely unique.”
In season 6, Gary Oldman‘s Jackson Lamb is looking for answers after his Slow Horses start getting picked off one by one. The ensemble cast includes Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas, Emmy Award nominee Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, BAFTA TV Award nominee Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, BAFTA Award nominee Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Academy Award nominee Jonathan Pryce and Hugo Weaving, alongside new addition, BAFTA TV Award winner Lenny Rush. Additionally, Olivia Cooke will reprise her role as Sidonie “Sid” Baker in the sixth season.
Season six has been produced by See-Saw Films, with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Adam Randall, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski and Oldman serving as executive producers. The season has been adapted for television by co-executive producer Gaby Chiappe.
The six-episode season is due to premiere on Apple TV starting on Wednesday, September 16.
