Finally, after we last reported on it over two and a half years ago, the Sludge Monster is rising back up from the muck! Only, its initial title of SLUDGE has now been changed to SHADOW OF DEATH. The reason for this long-delayed flick’s re-surfacing? Well it seems that a bunch of pickup shots for the flick are happening later this month, aiming to add more gore and a freshly re-invented monster. The additional footage will be handled by filmmaker and FX artist Joe Castro (TERROR TOONS). Here’s what DEATH’s co-writer and director, S. Lee Taylor had to say regarding the revisions’ helmer:
“We couldn’t be happier to have Joe creating new effects for the pickups on SHADOW OF DEATH. His passion for disturbing gore sequences and love of the genre will drastically improve this film and make it what I hoped it would always be. Get ready for some really over-the-top, sick shit.”
Sounds like some good shit to me. Personally, I’m just glad that another Tiffany Shepis-starring horror flick will be seeing the light of day. Exactly when that happens is another story altogether, however I’ll be happy to keep you updated. Till then, have a look at DEATH’s synopsis:
Set in the Montana wilderness, a group of young geologists investigating unnatural phenomena are terrorized by the sludge-like creature. The rest of the cast includes Wade Sullivan, Cynthia Calvert, Chelsey Crisp (below), Victor Ratliff, Mark Elias, Anthony Connell.
