“Smallville” showrunners pitch Bermuda Traingle flick to Universal

The Bermuda Triangle will always be a locale for genre movies, as the inherent mystery of the place and the terror therein – until solved – will never really tire of its dramatic nature. To prove this theory, Universal just bought a pitch for a Bermuda Triangle film from “Smallville” showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough.

No title or logline for the new venture was provided, but Millar and Gough are, as scribes, about as high profile as one can get. The duo penned I AM NUMBER FOUR, SPIDER-MAN 2, SHANGHAI NOON, LETHAL WEAPON 4 and others. Word is Scott Stuber (SAFE HOUSE) will produced the untitled Bermuda picture.

It’s worth noting that at least one other Bermuda Triangle flick is in the works that we know about. In January WWE bought a found-footage flick called BERMUDA. Of course, TRIANGLE came out a few years ago and used the location to decent effect. How Gough and Millar’s script differs should be interesting to watch. We know it’ll be a much larger endeavor, possibly a tentpole.

Until we hear more, give us your thoughts on this one and movies on the Triangle in general.
