Underappreciated Snoop Dogg horror movie Bones hits Blu-ray in 2020

Scream Factory will unleash Ernest Dickerson's underappreciated Snoop Dogg horror movie BONES on Blu-ray in March 2020. Extras are still in the works and will be announced at a later date. Until then, for those that may think the headline of this post is some kind of back-handed joke, it isn't.

BONES really is a lot of fun and most of that is due to director Ernest "Why Have I Never Directed A Nightmare on Elm Street Movie?" Dickerson.

For those that might not know, Dickerson is best known around these parts for directing classics as SURVIVING THE GAME with Ice-T, Rutger Hauer, and Gary Busey, and JUICE with Omar Epps and Tupac Shakur. Not to mention a little movie called Tales from the Crypt presents DEMON KNIGHT.

And if that weren't enough, Dickerson also helmed episodes of such classic TV series as Masters Of Horror ("The V Word"), Fear Itself, Dexter, The Walking Dead, Under the Dome, The Purge, The Wire, Sleepy Hollow, and Damien. All of this is to say, the man knows his stuff.

BONES centers on

Jimmy Bones (Snoop Dogg), a legendary protector and patron of his thriving neighborhood. Cool, handsome and respected – Bones is the benevolent caretaker of his people until he is betrayed by those closest to him. Flash forward 20 years. Crime and drugs have crumbled the neighborhood and Bones has become a charismatic emblem of better times. But his spirit is about to make a comeback.

BONES was directed by Ernest Dickerson from a screenplay written by Adam Simon and Tim Metcalfe. Rupert Harvey produced along with Peter Heller and Lloyd Segan. It starred Snoop Dogg, Khalil Kain, Clifton Powell, Bianca Lawson, Katharine Isabelle, Michael T. Weiss, and Pam Grier. New Line Cinema released it back on October 26, 2001. Meanwhile, Scream Factory will unleash BONES on Blu-ray on March 31, 2020.
