One of my favorite slasher flicks from the 80s has to be , whether because it stars Jaime Lee Curtis and those precious ‘scream queen’ lungs of hers, or that a head bounces down the dance floor at the end (which always gives me a good chuckle)- either way, whenever I flip through TV and I stumble upon PROM NIGHT, I can’t help but stop and watch the damn thing.
So when it came out a few months back that they were PROM NIGHT, I was a little upset. Pissed off, would probably be a better word for it. Why remake it? But alas, like so many pointless remakes, there’s really no point in complaining and just ‘go with it’.
Brittany Snow, star of the ‘new’ PROM NIGHT, had a chance to chat about the flick with , and she had some interesting things to say about the plot. Check it: [It’s about when] my teacher becomes obsessed, and falls in love with me, starts stalking me, winds up at my prom night and starts wreaking havoc on everyone. Ah. So basically, it’s NOT a remake , but a completely movie! Lame!
While I’m a little miffed that this PROM NIGHT has NOTHING to do with the original, other than trying to cash in on name recognition, Snow gave me another reason to hate on it: There’s no blood, guts or gore. That’s it! A remake that’s really a remake? A slasher flick that’s not a slasher flick (not blood, guts or gore=no slasher)? What the hell is going on here????
If you had any thoughts that this might end of being a good movie, please flush them down the toilet. To check out the whole chat with Snow, go ahead and click and get ready for PROM NIGHT in theaters this April.
