Soavi’s Club

If you’ve seen CEMETERY MAN (aka DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE), then you know what kind of wonderful wackiness director Michele Soavi is capable of. I mean, he made Rupert Everett a badass – no easy feat. It’s been a while since I’ve heard his name, but now it appears it might begin ringing out again as he preps his new feature: CATACOMBS CLUB.

Soavi spoke to Fangoria about the flick, which starts filming this summer in London and Romania. Ready for a f*cking crazy synopsis? Enjoy:

CATACOMBS CLUB relates the strange tale of a rich Russian married couple building a casino-cum-disco in London’s West End. The wife wants to be a headline singer in the club; only problem is, she’s completely tone-deaf and can’t carry a tune, so her husband hires a singing teacher to help her fulfil her dream ambition. As construction begins on the site, a drunken accident finds the instructor falling into a recently uncovered passageway that leads to a kingdom of strange creatures. They’ve gone undiscovered since their burial during the Roman invasion 2,000 years before, and the teacher is shocked to learn they know nothing of the surface world. He’s even more surprised when he falls in love with She, a female creature with the most beautiful voice he has ever heard…

When life hands you creatures, make them singers in your nightclub, that’s what I always say. Soavi claims the film will be in the spirit of CEMETERY MAN, which is very good news indeed (intriguingly, Anna Falchi’s character in that film is also named “She.” Hmmm…). For more info, visit Fangoria!

SHE is hot!
