Sony’s animated Spider-Man film casts its Miles Morales

So this is exciting news! Apparently Sony’s animated SPIDER-MAN film is still a go, and they’ve just cast their Miles Morales, and it’s none other than DOPE’s Shameik Moore! Which, I gotta say, is pretty spot-on casting. I’m also happy to see Morales get into the mainstream spotlight more. He’s honestly a great character.

Meanwhile, Moore is joined by Liev Schreiber, cast as the voice of the film’s primary villain; however who he’s specifically playing is currently being kept under wraps. This will be the second time he was cast as a Marvel villain (the first being Sabretooth in the much maligned X-MEN: ORIGINS WOLVERINE film).

Not only that but the film is being co-written by Chris Miller and Phil Lord of CLONE HIGH and 21 JUMP STREET fame, which already makes it a must-see for me. It will also be directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey who both directed, in my opinion, two underrated animated gems (LITTLE PRINCE and RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, respectively), so that’s cool too.

Now, I’m obviously optimistic about this film, but what about you Schmoes? You down for an animated Spider-Man film to run concurrent with the live-action ones? Either way, sound off below!

The currently untitled ANIMATED SPIDER-MAN FILM will swing into theatres December 21st, 2018.
