Sony to distribute the long-gestating reboot of The Crow

"Suddenly I heard a tapping, as of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door."

I hate to be the one to ruffle your feathers, but Sony has announced that they're on-board to distribute the long-stalled "THE CROW: REBORN" project worldwide. According to Variety, the film will be a reboot of the 1994 cult classic while simultaneously being a more faithful adaptation of the original graphic novel created by James O'Barr.

For some time, the film had remained in the hands of Relativity Media, but after several directors and actors had dropped off of the project, it appeared as if THE CROW's goose was cooked. Now, Samuel Hadida’s Davis Films, Highland Film Group, and Electric Shadow who previously acquired the rights to finance, produce, and distribute the film will team with Kevin Misher will also be producing for Misher Films. Edward R. Pressman, who produced the original 1994 film starring Brandon Lee, will also serve as a producer on the project in accordance with a partnership with Hadida.

As you are more than likely aware, THE CROW tells the story of Eric Draven, a musician who was murdered alongside his wife by a ruthless gang of thugs on their Halloween wedding night. After returning from the dead and being given supernatural abilities, Eric systematically dispatches his assailants in a poetic act of revenge fueled by love, loss, and revenge.

Shit on me. Here we go again. Rather than my going on some outlandish tirade about why this movie is the last thing we need right now, let's hear your take. Would you be interested in seeing a reboot of THE CROW? Who would you cast as Eric, Sarah, Albrecht, Top Dollar, Funboy, T-Bird, Skank, Tin TIn, Myca, and Shelly? Let us know in the comments section below, and please, don't hold back.
