Exciting news for fans of the remake of PROM NIGHT: Summit Entertainment is moving forward with a remake of THE HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW, with director Stewart Hendler (WHISPER) at the helm.
Briana Evigan (STEP UP 2 THE STREETS; pictured below) and Rumor Willis (daughter of you-know-who; pictured right) have been cast. The screenplay was written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger (GOOD LUCK CHUCK).
The flick, to be simply titled SORORITY ROW, is about what happens when a group of girls staying at a sorority house clash with the house’s owner, who wants them out. They decide to play a prank on her, but it goes awry and she winds up dead. Panicking, the girls try to hide the body, but someone (or something) witnessed the crime and begins to stalk them.
So why shouldn’t we instantly hate this flick? Well, writer Stolberg says that it’ll be rated R, which at least distances this from PROM NIGHT a little bit… From his blog: … After Prom Night’s big theatrical opening, we’ve spent the past month rewriting our script for House on Sorority Row into a PG-13 movie… The good news is that three days ago, Summit changed their minds and we are full-steam ahead on the R-rated version. I can’t tell you what a relief this is from a creative sense. Everything is going back in. As I’ve mentioned before, we’re not out to make torture porn and this still isn’t going to be an explicit exploitation picture — but it’s nice to be able to write a horror movie the way it should be.
Shooting begins on October 6th in Pittsburgh.
