It’s finally here. For all you fans of Richard Kelly, waiting patiently to check out his latest film SOUTHLAND TALES, you don’t have to wait any further, as it’s hitting theaters this November. But what’s even better than that? Yahoo!Movies scored the first look at the movie’s theatrical trailer today, and holy hell, does it rock! You know, in that ‘what the f*ck is going on here’ kind of way…
Being a fan of DONNIE DARKO, I guess you could say I’m a fan of Kelly as well, except that DARKO is the only movie he’s done. But for argument’s sake, I’m a fan of Kelly. He has a stylistic eye that I really dig, and judging from the trailer for TALES, it looks like he’s going to deliver even more of the same stylistic goodness that we’ve all come to expect.

The Rock as an action hero actor, Seann William Scott (that’s right, two NN’s- watch the trailer, and see how THEY spell his name…) as a kick-ass cop, Sarah Michelle Gellar as a porn star (!!!), and a cast of other random characters that I can’t quite put my finger on. Does it look cool? You bet it does! Can I tell what the f*ck is going on? Not even in the slightest!
But that’s the whole idea behind TALES, and for Kelly’s sake, I hope he pulls it off, as ealy test screenings resulted in folks walking out before the credits rolled… which is NEVER a good thing.
