Netflix renews Space Force for a second season

Space Force may not have received the best reviews upon its release earlier this year, but that hasn't stopped Netflix from renewing the comedy series for a second season. Production on the second season of Space Force, which was created by Greg Daniels and Steve Carell, is expected to kick off in Vancouver next year.

The series stars Steve Carell as Mark Naird, a four-star general and decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force who is thrown for a loop with his new directive of establishing the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces, the Space Force. The first season also starred John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Jimmy O. Yang, Jane Lynch, Noah Emmerich, Lisa Kudrow, and the late Fred Willard. Co-creator Greg Daniels, best known for his work on SNL, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, The Office, and Parks & Recreation, voiced his desire for more seasons earlier this year. "We’re certainly hoping for a few more seasons," said Daniels, "and we have started to assemble the senior writers to discuss what would happen next year. We don’t have the pickup yet, but yeah. There’s a lot to follow up on based on where we ended." Our own Alex Maidy seemed to enjoy Space Force more than most in his review, but said that although it wound up being "much better than I expected it to be and will certainly make many of you laugh," it wasn't good enough to earn a spot alongside The Office.
