Spawn Returns to TV?

Back at the beginning of the week we found out Todd McFarlane was hard at work on a new SPAWN script. We’ve been tweaked and teased before but this time it was official, the man was getting it done!

Not a week later and McFarlane hits us with some more SPAWN related news via his Twitter:

ANIMATION: For those that’ve asked, the SPAWN ANIMATED show will be back in Hollywood’s face in 2010. Legal issues delayed it past few years.

Looks like McFarlane is planning a full SPAWN takeover! What exactly does this mean though? Is McFarlane gearing up to pitch a new SPAWN animated series around town? Is there a deal already in place? Will HBO once again be airing the graphic cartoon? All these questions and no answers! As soon as we hear anything SPAWN-related we’ll pass on the word.

In case you don’t know who SPAWN is… Really? ….. here’s the brass tacks from Wikipedia: Al Simmons, a CIA agent, was killed by his own boss, Jason Wynn, after witnessing his boss’ “indiscretions”. Simmons was sent to hell, where in a desperate attempt to see his wife one last time, he made a deal with the devil Malebolgia, and unwittingly, to become a “Hellspawn”, a General in Hells Army. Spawn has tried to retain his own humanity while finding a way out of Malebolgia’s control and battling a variety of enemies, both supernatural and criminal.
