SPC wants Almodovar

Pedro Almodovar Sony Pictures Classics has picked up the North American rights to Pedro Almodovar’s latest effort, BROKEN EMBRACES, marking their tenth collaboration with the celebrated Spanish filmmaker. The film, which is currently filming on location in Madrid and the Canary Islands and is being shot in a film noir style, re-teams the director with Penelope Cruz in a story that centers on a four person love quadrangle and apparently “touches on many genres” including thriller. So it’s a romantic thriller drama film noir? Awesome. Almodovar regulars Lluis Homar and Blanca Portillo also star. The idea for the film was apparently “partly inspired by a series of migraines that rendered him ultra-sensitive to bright lights.” Spooky.
