Spider-Man 3 title officially revealed as No Way Home

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

After three fake teases from Tom Holland, Jacob Batalon, and Zendaya, the trio of young stars has officially revealed the title of the third Sony/Marvel Studios Spider-Man movie. It will be known as Spider-Man: No Way Home. Moreover, the film will be swinging into theaters (and theaters only) this Christmas.

While no plot details have been announced, we know the film will heavily feature elements of the multiverse, a concept teased in Far From Home in 2019 and developing in the hit Disney+ series WandaVision.

Rumors have abounded that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would be reprising their roles from the prior Spider-Man franchises, but this has not yet been formally announced. We do know that Jamie Foxx is returning as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Alfred Molina is coming back as Doctor Octopus from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2.

Playing amateur detective, the subtitle No Way Home could allude to the post-credits tease from Spider-man: Far From Home that featured Mysterio unmask Peter Parker as the web-slinger to the world. Could this third film feature Peter being hunted by the authorities for the death of Mysterio? The title could also be referencing Peter Parker getting lost within the multiverse and needing to find a way back to his Earth.

According to today's teaser announcement, Spider-Man: No Way Home almost went by a series of alternate titles, including Spider-Man: Home Schooled, Spider-Man: Home Sweet Home, Spider-Man: Homerun, Spider-Man: Welcome Home, Spider-Man: No Place Like Home, Spider-Man: Stay At Home, Spider-Man: Home Worlds, Spider-Man: Homemade, Spider-Man: Wanna Go Home, Spider-Man: Homesick, Spider-Man: Close to Home, and Spider-Man: Can't Find Home, just to name a few. While many of these titles were created for the sake of the teaser announcement, it's still fun to see what might have been.
