In a real-life digital take on the Spider-Man meme, the three key big screen Peter Parkers – Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire – apparently have a group text with one another where they chat all things Spider-Man. What, Nicholas Hammond doesn’t have an iPhone?
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Holland said, “Myself, Andrew, Tobey — we have this amazing bond as three people who have been through something that is so unique that we really are like brothers. We have a great group chat and we catch up every now and then. It’s called the Spider-Boys.” Oh come on, how adorable is that? But what do the Spider-Boys text about? Well, Spider-Stuff of course. Holland revealed that the last text with the boys involved some Spidey merch. “I was doing a charity event in London for the Brothers Trust and I was asking if they would be so kind as to sign a poster to auction off. They were obviously happy to oblige.”
Tom Holland recently revealed that none of his texting buddies star in his favorite Spider-Man movie, as he named 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse as his top pick. But since group texts are limited, it would be impossible for Tom Holland to add all of those Spider-People into a chat.
As far as where Tom Holland stands on playing Peter Parker / Spider-Man again, he appears to be a bit conflicted. “The first few meetings [with Marvel executives] were about, ‘Why would we do this again?’ And I think we found the reason why. I’m really, really happy with where we’re at in terms of the creative…But I’m also a little apprehensive about it…There’s a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there’s a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life.”
