Spike Lee to honor the King of Pop with Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson

According to gossip rag PopEater, brilliant and controversial filmmaker Spike Lee is apparently in the works of developing a Michael Jackson tribute film to be called BROOKLYN LOVES MICHAEL JACKSON.

Lee, apparently so shook up from the death of the pop musician, took his grief to the word processor and began hammering out a script.

While doing press for the film MOTHER AND CHILD, Samuel L. Jackson – who reportedly has a role in Lee’s film – explained that the movie will be about people who want to throw a concert in Brooklyn for Michael “and the new gentrified people that live in the neighborhood (who) are worried about the kind of element that might be coming into the neighborhood.”

Showbiz 411 actually reported on this at the beginning of the month. They add that along with Samuel L. Jackson, John Turturro, Julianne Moore, and Rosie Perez are also lined up to star.

IMDb has the film tentatively listed for a 2012 release.
