Director Jeffrey Schwarz recently sent word to us that his documentary SPINE TINGLER! THE WILLIAM CASTLE STORY has recently won itself Best Feature Documentary at the 11th Annual Magnolia Independent Film Festival in Starkville, Mississippi. Great news for what’s supposed to be a very entertaining doc, which is already boasting really positive reviews in trades like Variety and Hollywood Reporter. It continues to play the festival circuit – you can take a look at its next playdates below…
Of course, it tells the story of infamous horror writer/producer/director/all-around-showman William Castle, who brought us such titles as HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, THIRTEEN GHOSTS (the good versions), THE TINGLER (which of course has its own remake planned), among many, many others. Perhaps his brightest moment was as producer of ROSEMARY’S BABY – a rare foray into serious horror… As you probably know, in the late 90s, Castle’s daughter Terry, along with Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis, formed “Dark Castle Entertainment” in his honor.
Schwarz’s doc is an affectionate look at the man’s life and career, and includes interviews with folks like Roger Corman, Joe Dante, John Waters, Stuart Gordon, John Badham, Robert Bloch, John Landis, and tons more! Sounds like a really entertaining experience, so if you live in one of the following cities, try and check it out!
