Spore: The Movie?

JoBloJoBlo

As I’m sure you know, video games turned into movies don’t exactly have a stellar track record. Video games turned into expensive animated films, have just as many problems (see FINAL FANTASY). But that’s not stopping Fox. The studio has snapped up the rights to the EA game “Spore” and have set it up as an animated feature for Chris Wedge (ICE AGE) to direct. Fox recently greenlit Wedge’s next film LEAF MEN, so it may be some time before this project gets off the ground. The first step is for writers Greg Erb and Jason Oremland (THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG) to get working on the script.

“Spore” was created by Will Wright, the guy who created “The Sims.” The game allows the player to develop a species from a microscopic organism to its evolution into a complex. You can also use the creature creator to make your own creature, a feature that spawned a lot of penis-shaped creatures when the game was launched (strangely there weren’t a lot of vagina creatures). I’m guessing that Wedge, Fox and Blue Sky will not be incorporating the penis creatures in the animated movie…
