Star Trek: Picard already renewed for season two

Fans of Jean-Luc Picard rejoice! Your beloved captain shall be returning for even more Star Trek adventures.

When Patrick Stewart last played Starfleet Captain Jean-Luc Picard in 2002's STAR TREK: NEMESIS, he felt that the character's evolution had finally run its course. However, in the years since, Stewart has been greatly influenced by stories from fans of how much the character impacted their lives. As such, the seventy-nine year old English actor decided to give it another shot and earlier this year Star Trek: Picard filmed its initial ten episode run.

The show is set to premiere next month on CBS All Access and now word has beamed down that more episodes are on the way. CBS has given the green light for a second season of Star Trek: Picard. Just like the upcoming first season, the second will consist of ten episodes. Filming on season two is set to get underway as early as Spring with eyes on a late 2020 or early 2021 release.

Season one of Star Trek: Picard will debut on January 23, 2020. As with previous CBS All Access shows, you will not be able to binge watch the entire first season come that third week in January. Rather, CBS All Access will release the episodes weekly. No word yet if the upcoming show will contain any profanity like Jordan Peele's Twilight Zone did. However, I find it highly unlikely that we will hear Captain Picard say, "Make it so, motherf*cker" in the new season.

Star Trek: Picard stars Patrick Stewart, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Alison Pill, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan, and Marina Sirtis.

What about you guys? Are you excited for Star Trek: Picard? Are you happy CBS already renewed it for season two? Sound off in the comments below!
