Star Trek: Picard: Q returns in new Season 2 teaser trailer

Happy Picard Day, everybody, because apparently, that's a thing now. Paramount+ has unveiled a new teaser trailer for Star Trek: Picard Season 2, which marks the return of the classic villain Q (John de Lancie).

“Mon Capitaine, how I’ve missed you,” Q says in the trailer as he ridicules a stunned Jean-Luc Picard. "Welcome, my friend, to the very end of the road not taken," Q continues as he frustrates his nemesis with riddles.

Q is an extra-dimensional being who can manipulate space, time, and reality. Though he appears as a humanoid male for portions of the show, he can take on other forms if he so desires. He first strolled onto the Star Trek scene for Star Trek: The Next Generation, and most recently, as a part of Star Trek: Lower Decks. He's a jovial antihero who delights in putting Picard through his paces. If he were a Doctor Who villain, you'd likely find him hanging out with The Master.

The trailer does more than tease Q's return. It also shows that time itself is in peril and that some suspicious Borg-related activity is afoot.

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 does not have a release date at this time, though it's believed the show will debut next year.

In addition to Sir Patrick Stewart and John de Lancie, Santiago Cabrera, Jeri Ryan, Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Orla Brady, and Brent Spiner are set to return for more drama amongst the stars.
