Star Trek: Prodigy welcomes John Noble & Jimmi Simpson as the main villains

Star Trek: Prodigy has added a couple of villains to its ranks. The animated Star Trek series follows a motley crew of young aliens who must learn to work together to use an abandoned starship and search for adventure in the Delta Quadrant. The abandoned starship also includes an emergency training hologram that takes the form of Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), who teaches the young crew how to operate the ship and what the Federation stands for.

Paramount Plus announced today that John Noble (Fringe) and Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) have joined the cast as the main villains of Star Trek: Prodigy. Noble’s character is known as The Diviner, a ruthless tyrant who controls the asteroid of Tars Lamora and exploits wayward species. He’ll stop at nothing in his hunt for the U.S.S. Protostar, no matter the cost. Though his goals are shrouded in mystery, his body is failing him and he created his progeny, Gwyn, to one day carry on his mission when she is ready for it. Unfortunately for The Diviner, Gwyn rebels and takes off in the experimental starship with the other young aliens. Jimmi Simpson will voice Drednok, The Diviner’s deadly robotic enforcer who is heartless and cold. His sole purpose is to keep The Diviner on task and ensure that the Protostar is found. Drednok is a friend to no one, including The Diviner’s own daughter Gwyn and uses his menacing spider-like form to impose The Diviner’s will.

Star Trek: Prodigy is the first Star Trek series intended for younger audiences and stars Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Angus Imrie as Zero, Brett Gray as Dal, Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk, Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog, and Dee Bradley Baker as Murf. The series will debut later this year on Paramount Plus.
